This past weekend we gathered for a three-session weekend with returning guest Rev. Dr. Ray Aldred. As a church community committed to Christ's vision of 'Fullness of Life for Everyone', we recognize the need for us to become humble learners and listeners before we can practice meaningful reconciliation with our Indigenous brothers and sisters.
Ray graciously introduced us to Indigenous Realities in Canada through a theological lens as well as by sharing from his personal experience as a status Cree from Swan River Band, Treaty 8. Ray currently serves as the director of the Indigenous Studies Program at the Vancouver School of Theology whose mission is to partner with the Indigenous Church around theological education. For Ray's full bio, please visit https://vst.edu/people/raymond-aldred/
If you would like to take in these sessions, on your own or with a group, you can find them here. Let us know what Jesus is teaching you!
Ray also preached on Sunday morning as we looked at the beginning of advent through the lens of creation. This was a timely word for us as a congregation and we highly recommend putting it on your list if you weren't able to join us.
